Recently players have faced what is illegal restart in Fortnite. And if you have not heard what this is, here you will know everything about this new rule that will apply from this last season.
If Fortnite detects that a player is trying to enter a competitive event in more than one region, or caught logging into multiple accounts, you will be given an automatic warning for attempting an "illegal reboot."
What does the illegal restart rule say in Fortnite?
Since many players were unaware of this rule change, Epic has chosen to be lenient about it and clarified what the rule is and how it affects Fortnite players, on Twitter.
These rules are new for the current Fortnite season. The rule in question is worded as:
3.7.4 Players may only have one (1) entry (using one (1) Epic account) into the Event for a given session. Players are expressly prohibited from having additional entries to the Event using additional or secondary Epic accounts, and / or participating from more than one (1) server region
The purpose of this rule update is to keep players limited to a single region. Although not very common, some servers suffered from having a large number of multi-server competitors flooding their regions and effectively driving out local competition.
This is especially problematic on servers with competitive hours that are drastically different from the more populated servers, as players could compete on both without too much discomfort.
This rule will not affect the vast majority of players, but it will help maintain server health for smaller servers like Oceania and the Middle East. One thing to note is that this rule does not limit players to only their region of origin. Technically, a player who plays on the East US server can play on any other server, but will only be able to compete on one.
Where to compete to avoid falling into the illegal restart in Fortnite
While some Fortnite players might still consider playing on other servers, most won't find it worth it. When competing on a distant server, players will experience more severe latency and will have a hard time competing with locals playing with much lower pings.
Given the small chance of reaching the finals under these conditions, most Fortnite players will find a greater chance of success and fun playing on the server closest to their physical locations.
While everyone hopes to reach the final and win, the truth is that only a select few will qualify, and only a handful of those who qualify will win enough prize money to be deemed worthwhile.
For most normal Fortnite players, competing in these types of tournaments is just for fun, and these rules will prevent them from having to play against highly trained servers in hopes of improving their odds.
